My Favorite New Movies of the Pandemic

Image
By: Weston Swift      This year has been strange in every aspect you can think of, but one thing that has been especially whacky is the movie industry. I mean movie theatre chains are hanging on by a thread, due to the fact of the pandemic shutting them down, which has moved basically every block-buster to a new date way into the future. Luckily with streaming we can still get new movies and shows, though with still only a limited release of low budget movies and some hidden gems. Below I have listed some of my favorite movies that have been released during the pandemic.  Extraction (2020, Netflix)      Chris Hemsworth doing Chris Hemsworth things. This action-packed movie is an amazing directorial debut for long time stuntman Sam Hargrave. It gives you everything you could want, good-looking people, great fight scenes and a story that you have keeps entertained until the end. I can't wait for the...

Overpaid NBA Stars on the Decline Who Could Help Contenders this Year

Image
By: Weston Swift     This year is expected to have the least amount of sellers at the trade deadline, due to the fact of the introduction of the play-in games to qualify for a playoff spot. Even if this does come to fruition there still are some impactful guys that are available that could help out some contenders. Such as just this week Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin have both been sat down until there teams decide to trade or buy them out. I think their could end up being a couple of guys who will be available that could be impactful.  The Easy One: Andre Drummond Plenty of  teams need an impactful big-man to truly make a run at the title. The obvious one is the  Brooklyn Nets who basically aren't talked about without mentioning that they need a big man. If they do somehow get him without giving anything up, I do believe they officially become the title favorites. Though on the other side of this the Lakers could be fishing around in the mar...

Top 3 Most Recent NBA Draft BUSTS!

Image
By: Weston Swift         It seems like every year the NBA draft classes get labeled as weak, and because of this teams have been selling off there draft capital like there a stock that has capped out. With this trend teams have started giving up on young players very early, without even giving them a true shot to reach the potential that got them drafted in the first place. The term "bust" is thrown out now a couple times a year, but a bust to me is someone who we truly thought were going to be great, and just couldn't make it in the league due to injury or performance. Players like Josh Jackson picked at 4 who still contribute off the bench don't count.  1) Greg Oden     You have to feel for the Portland Trailblazers, they will forever been known as the franchise who passed on MJ and now they passed on KD as well, for another big man none the less. Also, when they did get it right with Brandon Roy injuries took him right out of the l...

Top 5 Best Comedy Friend Groups in Hollywood & Their Best Movies

Image
By: Weston Swift     To clear things up this ranking will make a lot more sense once you see the actual form, but i've always been fascinated with the friend groups in hollywood such as Adam Sandler and the happy madison crew, or the Will Ferrell faction. I think I like this subject so much due to the fact I want to be friends with all these people, but honestly who doesn't... P.S. You will see some names on a couple of groups, some comedians just get a long with everyone *cough.. Paul Rudd.. cough* 1. The Judd Apatow misfits   For those of you who don't know Judd Apatow is widely regarded as the biggest comedy director in Hollywood. He has mega-hits such as, The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked-Up, and Bridesmaids.  The Personnel: Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrol, Craig Robinson, Jay Baruchel, Bill Hader Top Movies: Knocked Up, Bridesmaids, This is 40, Anchor-Man, Trainwreck, Forgetting Sa...

Top 5 Non-MCU Marvel Movies

Image
By Weston Swift 1) Logan Logan was the true glorious gift we got out of the Bryan Singer X-Men era. Patrick Stewart and a ripped up Hugh Jackman what more could a person ask for. This movie is an amazing end to the Hugh Jackman wolverine era. Though we can pray he shows back up into the MCU. 2) Deadpool  Ryan Reynolds as the big mouth mercenary is just amazing. I could listen to his jokes all day, plus he's actually ugly in this and still some how gets a hot girl. LOVE a great underdog story and this what this is, I am truly excited to what he does in the MCU. 3) Sam Raimi / Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy. Yes, this is cheating, but I like putting these together. I mean I remember how excited I was to watch these in the theaters. These really brought a super hero to real life and I can't wait to see if the rumors are true about him in the MCU.  4) Into the Spider verse  This is referred to by some as the greatest Super Hero film ever made. Though, I do think the p...

The Most Over-Hyped Super Bowl Ever?

Image
By Weston Swift          Coming into this  week all we heard on every sports news channel was would this be the greatest Super Bowl in history offensively at least, Brady vs Mahomes, or as John C. Reilly put it in step-brothers, the old bull vs the young calf. Though once the game got started it was basically the same story we've watched 6 times before, in sense that Brady was on his way to what he calls his favorite super bowl "The next one". Yes, all his super bowl victories had different beginnings, but the ending was the same, and this one might've been his most dominate one. Still it's crazy that Pat Mahomes went from the chosen one who could catch, and maybe even surpass Brady, to being compared to Russell Wilson. This meaning he's a fun player, his team will be in it every year and he will finish top-4 in MVP voting every year.           Though, even with all the over-hype you can't deny that the game di...
